PhD Scholarship in Sociocultural Linguistics
        
Applications are invited for a fully funded PhD position within sociocultural linguistics at the Department of Language and Communication, University of Southern Denmark, Odense, with effect from September 1st 2015 or as soon as possible thereafter.

This position will be attached to the Centre of Communication, Culture and Society (http://https://www.sdu.dk/en/Om_SDU/Institutter_centre/C_CCS ), which covers a wide range of research within sociolinguistics, pragmatics, social psychology and discourse studies across a number of languages in varying contexts. The Ph.D. project is expected to focus on social and/or cultural dimensions of language in use.

The successful applicant will hold a Master’s degree in languages, Applied Linguistics or a related degree. Knowledge of Danish is not required but would be an asset.

Applicants should submit a description of a Ph.D. project that falls within the area outlined above. The project description must be in English or Danish.

Application, salary and conditions of employment etc.
A PhD Fellowship is a three-year position. Employment ends automatically by the end of the period. The holder of the fellowship is not allowed to have other paid employment during the three-year period.

Applications will be assessed by an expert assessment panel. All applicants will receive the part of the panel’s assessment that is relevant to their application.

An interview may form part of the overall assessment of the applicants’ qualifications.

The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the Protocol on PhD Research Fellow signed by the Danish Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) March 26th 2012, enclosure 5, Cirkulære om overenskomst for Akademikere i staten 2012
